CPR Classes - 2008

To serve the citizens in the community, the Warrenville Fire District is offering CPR classes and re-certification classes. The description, cost (including book), and dates are listed below. The classes are held Warrenville Fire Station Headquarters, 3S472 Batavia Road, Warrenville. To sign up and have questions answered, please call Debra or Beth at 393-1381. You can download the CPR signup form in Adobe PDF format which can be printed, filled out, and along with payment, mailed or delivered to the station (Monday-Friday, 9AM-4PM).

The Heartsaver CPR Course is designed to teach CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction to all lay rescuers, particularly those who are expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace. After passing a skills demonstration, the participant will be trained in CPR for adult, infant, and child victims. Participant will learn the signs and responses for a heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking victim. The participant will receive a course completion card (credential).

The BLS for Healthcare Providers Course is designed to teach the skills of CPR to victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen), use of automated defibrillator, and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. It is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. It is required for DCFS childcare providers. After passing skill demonstrations the participants will receive a BLS for Healthcare Providers Course completion card (credential).
Friends and Family Participation card and book $35 Min. age = 8 yrs.
The CPR for Family and Friends Course targets all lay rescuers, such as school children, family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death, an other laypersons who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones. The course teaches rescuers skills in CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. It presents information about adult Chain of Survival, signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and choking in adults. The class also presents information about pediatric/infant Chain of Survival, signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children. A participation card is given (this in not a credential class).
